History

Taken off the showroom floor by Monterey, Ca. SAAB dealership owner, Ole Anderson. He race prepared the SAAB 96 for class "D" sedan competition, and won the 1966 championship first time out! The SAAB 96 changed hands to Stan Laskin of San Jose, Ca,. and again the SAAB 96 won the 1967 "D" sedan championship. During it's championship seasons (1966-67), the current owner, Paul Perry was a pit crew mechanic (and now owner of the Swedish Auto Factory). The SAAB 96 was then sold and used as a "Hot Street Car" and fell into disuse.

However, in 1992, a friend of Paul Perry discovered the derelict SAAB 96 without an engine, transmission, and needing a total restoration. This was the period of resurrection for the SAAB 96. Paul Perry purchased and restored the "96" to it's previous 1966 racing specifications , bringing it full circle.
